About the Policy Forum

The DECA Policy Forum is a national, two-day program bringing industry and government together to shape policy, regulatory and economic frameworks for Australia’s digital economy. It focuses on digital assets, tokenisation, digitalisation and stablecoins, with emphasis on regulatory coordination, market integrity, innovation enablement and national competitiveness.

Day 1 – Member Roundtables

Day 1 features three closed-door roundtables that form the core pillars of DECA’s Proactive Policy Paper. These roundtables examine the economic evidence, the commercial pathways and the regulatory settings required to support Australia’s digital economy.

Roundtable discussions will anchor the DECA Policy Forum fostering proactive policy development through meaningful industry dialogue.

The Policy Forum is action-driven. All discussions are recorded and transcribed, ensuring every contribution is captured and incorporated into a structured policy document for delivery to government in May 2026.

Day 2 – Conference

Day 2 brings industry and government together at Parliament House for a series of plenary sessions that highlight sector capability, global trends and shared policy priorities.

About the Roundtables

The Policy Forum provides a unique opportunity for industry to directly contribute to the development of Australia’s regulatory framework. Participants take part in focused, constructive discussions with peers, researchers and policymakers, shaping the evidence base and policy pathways that will guide the next phase of national reform.

Three specialised invite only and member led roundtables anchor Day 1:

1. Strategic Foresight on Sovereign Digital Asset Reserves
To provide a structured exploration of what a strategic digital asset reserve is, why global jurisdictions are examining it, the economic and geopolitical drivers behind this shift, and the key considerations relevant to Australia. The session will identify opportunities, risks, constraints and practical questions government will need to understand.

2. The Globalisation of Value: How Stablecoins and Tokenisation Strengthen Cross-Border Efficiency
A targeted discussion on commercial adoption, barriers, and practical policy recommendations that support safe and scalable tokenisation.

3. Building a Cohesive Regulatory Framework for Australia’s Digital Economy
A system-level discussion on regulatory alignment, modernisation of oversight, sandbox design, licensing pathways and interoperability across regimes.

These roundtables form the foundation of DECA’s Proactive Policy Paper, ensuring the final recommendations reflect industry experience, economic evidence and global best practice.

The Digital Economy Council of Australia welcomes both active participants and observers for the roundtables.

You can find the 2025 Proactive Policy Submission here.
