For Immediate Release
Digital Economy Council of Australia, the peak industry body for blockchain in Australia, is proud to celebrate its ten-year anniversary. This significant milestone marks a decade of commitment to fostering innovation, education, and policy development in the blockchain sector.
Since its inception in 2014, Digital Economy Council of Australia has been at the forefront, advocating for the adoption of blockchain technology across various industries. The organisation has played a pivotal role in promoting a regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation while protecting consumers.
“It is an incredible achievement that Digital Economy Council of Australia has reached 10 years. It is testament to the resilience of the technology, and those within the industry. Emerging technologies often have challenging roads to widespread adoption. The promise of real-world asset tokenisation presents great opportunities for markets around the world, including Australia, and incoming regulation should seek to foster that potential. The efficiencies resolved in supply chains is another example of how blockchain technology is having a transformative effect on the world. We are seeing many games being built on the blockchain, with an Australian unicorn a global leader in this field. The future is bright for blockchain technology, and the passion remains within the community. In the next 10 years blockchain technology will become ubiquitous to many aspects of our lives.
We are immensely grateful for the work of those who paved the way for Digital Economy Council of Australia, including former CEO’s Steve Vallas and Nick Giurietto, and Chairs Ron Tucker, Adam Poulton, and Michael Bacina, and for the countless individuals who have dedicated their efforts to building a thriving blockchain ecosystem,” said Simon Callaghan, CEO of Digital Economy Council of Australia. “Our journey has been possible thanks to the collective efforts of everyone who has shared that vision.”
Digital Economy Council of Australia’s membership base has always included innovative technology businesses and now encompasses a wide spectrum of intersecting industries, including AI, payments, DeFi, gaming, software development, insurance, legal, accounting, and more. This diverse membership base is a clear reflection of the growing importance of the digital economy, and signifies our path forward as we continue to shape the future.
Digital Economy Council of Australia invites the community to join in the celebration of this remarkable journey and to continue supporting the advancement of this exciting technology in Australia and beyond, with a gala dinner in Sydney planned to celebrate.
